Improvements include infrastructure modernization, increased reliability and efficiency, electrical upgrades, and odor reduction. The project is now 45% complete.

Waste Water Treatment Plant Air Quality

September 14, 2018 

The City of Mill Valley and the staff of the Waste Water Treatment Plant located on Sycamore Avenue have received notice of concern from a parent of a Middle School student regarding air quality issues related to the plant. Staff has heard from some parents regarding their concerns and questions, and have been in dialog with the school over many years regarding odors.

Sewer Repair Scheduled for Wednesday Evening

April 4, 2018 

Work crews will be conducting sewer repairs on Wednesday, April 4 from approximately 8:00 pm until 3:00 am at 213 Belvedere Drive, in the Strawberry neighborhood of unincorporated Mill Valley. The repairs require trucks to operate on Ashford Avenue and Lomita Drive in the City of Mill Valley and on Thomas Drive and Central Drive in unincorporated Marin County.

SASM Awards Contract to Begin Implementation of the Master Plan

January 19, 2018 

The Board of the Sewerage Agency of Southern Marin (SASM) which provides wastewater treatment and sewage disposal for its six member agencies, including the City of Mill Valley, recently awarded a $17.4 million contract to the Overaa Construction Company for the first phase of improvements to the aging wastewater treatment plant.

The Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades Planned

SASM is on the cusp of implementing its Wastewater Treatment Plant Master Plan, a comprehensive 30-year roadmap for SASM’s efforts to deal with aging infrastructure, plan for expected new legal requirements, protect it from flooding due to 100-year flood events and sea level rise, prepare for its future growth needs, incorporate sustainability initiatives and reduce the impact of the plant’s odor on its neighbors.

SASM Announces Sale of Revenue Bond for $38 million to Improve Wastewater Facility

November 3, 2016 

The Sewerage Agency of Southern Marin (SASM) has announced the sale of $38 million in sewer revenue bonds through a competitive bidding process, after the bond issuance was granted an AA positive rating by Standard & Poor's Rating Service. The SASM Board approved a bond issue in the fall of this year to facilitate critical upgrades and improvements to the SASM wastewater treatment plant located in Mill Valley.

SASM Unveils Master Plan for Wastewater Treatment Plant’s Next 30 Years
