FREE WASTE BAG HOLDERS WHEN YOU TAKE THE PLEDGE TO
“SCOOP THE POOP”
Picking up after your dog is the right thing to do – it’s better for the health of your dog, and the environment too! Dog poop can spread diseases to kids, pets, our creeks and the Bay.
When pet waste is improperly disposed, it can be picked up by stormwater runoff and washed into storm drains or nearby water bodies. Once in the water, it contributes bacteria and nutrients which can negatively impact water quality.
By picking up after your pet, you can help protect our local creeks, wetlands, bays and ocean. Follow these practices for a cleaner environment:
•Pick up after your pet by sealing its waste in a plastic bag and disposing of it in a trash can.
•Keep your dog on a leash when walking along creeks and wetlands.
•When dogs are allowed on trails, carry bags for their waste and dispose of it in a trash receptacle. Don’t leave the pet waste on the trail, in the surrounding vegetation or on a beach.
•Never hose pet waste into a storm drain. All storm drains flow directly to local creeks, bays or ocean.
Thanks for cleaning up after your pet!
