Network Policy

(Adopted by the Library Board of Trustees on June 5, 1997, revised on April 11, 2002, revised on July 12, 2018)

Policy

This policy governs access and use of the Mill Valley Public Library (the “Library”) network (the “Network”). The Network is provided equally to all patrons of the Library, and use of these resources shall be compatible with the Library's Mission Statement.

Since Internet access is provided in public areas of the Library, users agree to respect the reasonable sensibilities of other Library patrons when viewing web pages.

As with other Library materials, the restriction of a child's access to the Internet is the responsibility of the child's parent or legal guardian.

Not all sites on the Internet are accurate, complete, or current, and users must use discretion in questioning the validity of information they find.

The Library is not responsible for any damage that may result to a patron's equipment from files accessed from the Network. The Library is not responsible for lost/unsaved work.

All users agree to be respectful of working in close proximity to others, respect the privacy of others, and adhere to the established time limits and age restrictions (see www.millvalleylibrary.org for details).

Failure to honor these terms may result in the loss of access privileges.

Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Mill Valley Public Library (the “Library”) network (the “Network”). The Library reserves the right to modify the Terms at any time. By clicking to accept, you agree to be bound by these Terms. You may use the Network only for lawful purposes. You agree that you will not:

  • Use the Network in any way that violates applicable federal, state, local or international law or regulation.
  • Use the Network to send, knowingly receive, upload, download, reproduce, display or distribute material that infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other intellectual property right of any person.

The Library reserves the right to terminate or suspend your access to the Network for any violation of these Terms.  These Terms were last modified on July 12, 2018.
